EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY
As the world enters the 21st Century, the goal of education has become more focused than ever on cultivating truly educated persons. On the threshold of a new millennium, the drive for educational reform should not be propelled by business needs only.

Emphasis should also be put on graduating people who can deal with change in our world - a change that is accelerated by the technologies of the Information and Globalization Age. An Educated Person in this Age is one who is capable of maintaining a high quality of life, and of contributing to the betterment of the community and the world as a whole.

Information technologies have proven to be a significant advantage to the teaching/learning process. Developments in these technologies provide more powerful and versatile applications in education. One can look at our current era as the golden era of technology in education. Never before have educators had the wide and effective range of instructional and telecommunications technologies that are available to them and their students in and out of class. Educators have at hand very efficient tools to structure learning environments conducive to achieving the goal of education: the cultivation of the Educated Person.

The Department of Educational Technology is committed to the growing use of technology throughout the University, to the growing integration of all academic technologies with one another and to the development of literacy in the field of computers and other technologies among all Carlos Albizu University constituents.

The Department assists and advises faculty in identifying ways that technology can meet their instructional needs. The design and implementation of innovative approaches to learning is a central concern of the Department and work is going on in areas such as tutorial labs, interactive video, online courses and distance learning.

Carlos Albizu University students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to use the Microcomputer Labs to facilitate and enrich their academic pursuits. Located on the third floor of the building, the facilities consist of a general lab and an additional classroom lab with a Smart Board and a Video projector. The general lab operates on a walk-in basis whereas the classroom lab is scheduled for instructional use by faculty request or training activities scheduled by the MIS or Educational Technology Department.
